FAQs

What exactly is Nature's Throne?

Nature’s Throne is a natural surface cleaner designed specifically for public toilet seats (hello, think airport stalls and festival port-a-potties)

What’s in it?

All our ingredients are 100% plant-derived and fully listed on every bottle — including organic cane alcohol, organic essential oils like thyme, oregano, rosemary, and tea tree, plant-derived glucosides and lactic acid.

Does it kill all germs, viruses, and bacteria?

While our alcohol- and botanical-powered formula can visibly reduce certain bacteria and fungi on surfaces, this product is not EPA-registered and is not intended to disinfect or sanitize to medical standards.

We believe in transparency — and that includes not overpromising. Clean? Yes. Eradicate every microscopic invader? Not guaranteed.

Should I still use a paper toilet seat cover?

Absolutely — and we encourage it.

Nature’s Throne is designed to be a ritual enhancer, not a replacement. Spraying your seat first helps visibly reduce surface grime and adds a layer of botanical freshness, while the paper cover adds a physical barrier for extra comfort and peace of mind.

Together, they create a moment of cleanliness, confidence, and control — a ritual that turns even the worst public restroom into a space you can claim as your own.

What does “plant-powered ingredients” mean?

Our formula is rooted in nature’s most time-tested botanicals — carefully selected for their well-known surface-cleansing properties. Each essential oil we use contains naturally occurring compounds that have been studied for their ability to reduce environmental bacteria, fungi, and other microbes — without relying on synthetic additives.

Here’s what’s inside:

  • Thyme Oil - Contains Thymol, a natural monoterpene phenol studied for its antimicrobial and antifungal properties in surface cleaning.
  • Oregano Oil - Rich in Carvacrol, a powerful compound that’s been researched for its ability to reduce bacterial growth on surfaces.
  • Tea Tree Oil - Known for Terpinen-4-ol, which has a long history of use in natural cleaning and personal care for its purifying qualities.
  • Rosemary Oil - Contains 1,8-Cineole (Eucalyptol) and α-Pinene, both studied for their surface-cleansing support and fresh aromatic profile.

We don’t use vague claims like “kills everything” — just plants doing what they’ve done for centuries: keeping things fresh, clean, and naturally powerful.

What’s the alcohol content in Nature’s Throne?

Each bottle contains 70–75% organic cane alcohol, which is the optimal range for cleaning surfaces.

Contrary to popular belief, higher isn’t always better — alcohol above 90% evaporates too quickly to be effective. Our formulation gives the alcohol time to interact with the surface, while our plant-based ingredients support the clean without drying or damaging.

This isn’t just a blast of booze — it’s a balanced blend that respects your skin, your senses, and your space.

What are Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside and Decyl Glucoside?

Both are gentle, biodegradable cleansers (also known as “non-ionic surfactants”) made by combining natural plant-based alcohols with sugar molecules (glucose) — often sourced from coconut oil, corn, or palm-free glucose.

We use them to:

  • Disperse essential oils evenly in the formula (no separation here)
  • Help the spray spread smoothly across surfaces
  • Boost the cleaning power without adding harsh chemicals

These glucosides are known for being non-irritating, eco-friendly, and widely used in clean beauty and baby care products — because they get the job done without doing you dirty.

What’s Lactic Acid doing in here?

Despite the clinical name, Lactic Acid is a gentle, naturally derived acid (often sourced from fermented vegetables or sugars). We don’t use it to exfoliate — we use it to balance the pH of our formula to be skin-friendly and effective.

Proper pH matters:

Too alkaline and it can irritate. Too acidic and it may sting. Our formula sits in the sweet spot — typically between pH 4.5–5.5 — to stay gentle on your skin and tough on public surfaces.

Is it safe to use on skin or as a hand sanitizer?

This formula is designed for external surfaces only — especially toilet seats. It is not intended for use on skin. We love a good mist moment, but save this one for your seat, not your cheeks.

How do I use it?

1.) Shake well.

2.) Spray directly and generously onto the surface.

3.) Let the solution set for 30-60 seconds. The longer the better.

4.) Wipe with tissue or paper towel before placing a seat cover and sitting.

That’s it. No awkward soap run, no balancing act at the sink.

How not to use it?
  • Don’t spray on open wounds, cuts, or broken skin.
  • Don’t ingest it (yes, we have to say that).
  • Don’t leave it in direct sunlight or extreme heat.
  • And please — don’t assume it makes a dirty porta-potty sterile. It’s a helpful tool, not a miracle worker.

...that one friend’s questionable bathroom…and if you don’t have that friend, it might be you!

Does it expire?

There is no official expiration date at this time. However, we recommend using within 12–18 months for best scent and performance.

Why should I carry this instead of using toilet paper and soap?

Because you deserve better. Nature’s Throne gives you a fast, effective, and dignified way to clean public seats without the awkward bathroom ballet of hunting for supplies.

Why use this instead of sanitizer wipes?

Because wipes weren’t made for toilet seats — we were.

Wipes can be bulky, dry out, leave behind sticky residue, and can’t be flushed (no one wants to be that person clogging the stall). Nature’s Throne delivers a fine, refillable mist made with plant-powered ingredients—no mess, no waste, and no plumbing disasters. Just clean you control.

Can I refill the bottle?

Yes! In fact, we encourage it. Our 1 oz travel size is fully refillable from our 4 oz bottle. Less waste. More throne reclaiming.

Can I bring this on a plane?

Yep — the 1 oz bottle is TSA-compliant and fits in any carry-on, back pocket, or adventure pouch.

Is it safe around kids or pets?

This formula is not intended for use on children or pets. While made with plant-derived and thoughtfully selected ingredients, it should always be stored out of reach and used only as directed.

Is it flammable?

Yes — like most alcohol-based cleaners, this product is flammable. Keep away from open flames, sparks, and hot surfaces. (We don’t recommend lighting candles in porta-potties anyway.)

Is this product certified organic?

No, but we do use organic cane alcohol and essential oils as the base and source other ingredients from high-quality suppliers. We're committed to transparency, not greenwashing.
